Laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery uses small incisions, so most patients go home sooner and return to normal activity faster than after open surgery.
Tips for a smooth recovery
- Start walking gently on the same or next day to aid circulation.
- Keep the wound sites clean and dry, and follow dressing instructions.
- Avoid lifting heavy objects for 2–4 weeks.
- Eat light meals and drink plenty of fluids.
Contact your surgeon if you notice fever, increasing pain, redness or discharge from a wound.
